Krafton is publishing another BR game in India: Bullet Echo

Krafton, the South Korean developer behind Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), is set to bring a new battle royale (BR) title to the South Asian country. The game is titled Bullet Echo and has already been released globally, but in India, it is set to take on a new avatar in the form of Bullet Echo India.

What exactly is Bullet Echo India?

Bullet Echo is a top-down action shooter game, with various modes, including a BR mode. Thus, the title is very different from BGMI and appeals to a mid-core gaming-oriented audience. Bullet Echo also has 2-minute battles, making it a nice mobile game to enjoy on the go.

Bullet Echo has been developed by ZeptoLab and is available globally, including in India at the time of writing. It has more than 10 million downloads. ZeptoLab is the same company behind the famous Cut the Rope gamer series.

It seems that ZeptoLab has entered into a partnership with Krafton for the latter to publish Bullet Echo in the country. A quick look at the official website for the game, shows Krafton’s and ZeptoLab’s logos alongside, indicating a tie-up.

Bullet Echo has announced in-game that Indian players can start switching to a “specially tailored Indian version” of the game from April 4. Pre-registrations are currently live for the game.

Why a separate game for India is a good idea

It’s certainly a surprising move to see an available game being replaced by a localized title through a different publisher. But, in Bullet Echo’s case, it does seem like a good move.

Firstly, with India alone having millions of gamers, it becomes a lucrative market for any game. Thus, localizing a title specifically for an Indian audience will undoubtedly pull more players into the game.

Furthermore, Krafton’s BGMI has millions of active players to which it can directly market Bullet Echo India, as an on-the-go arcade alternative to BGMI. One of the in-game images posted on the application stores already shows a new character, the BGMI Stalker. Additionally, the description for the global version of Bullet Echo portrays it as a ” PvP tactical top-down shooter.” However, Krafton has titled the localized version as “Bullet Echo India: Battle Royale” in the application stores, indicating that it wants to appeal to the current BGMI audience.
