Top Tarkov Streamer Slams ‘Failing’ Developer

On Twitter, one of the biggest and most prolific streamers in the Escape from Tarkov scene slammed Battlestate Games, the developer of the iconic extraction shooter. He criticised the developers for being ‘asleep at the wheel’, referencing the long list of issues plaguing the game – and thousands of players. There’s an extensive and diverse array of problems with Escape from Tarkov, and as someone close to the game, I can corroborate the claims that it’s ‘in a bad spot right now’.

The streamer in question was LVNDMARK (Landmark), a top-tier creator with more than 1.6 million followers between YouTube and Twitch. He constantly tops the charts on Twitch for the Escape from Tarkov category, and he’s a fan-favourite when it comes to watching extraction shooter-based action unfold.

Read on to find out what LVNDMARK’s biggest issues are with Tarkov.

Changes Don’t Change Anything

LVNDMARK isn’t a happy streamer

Despite Battlestate Games pouring resources and updates into Escape from Tarkov, very little ever seems to change. Or, if it does change, it’s for the worse. On Twitter, LVNDMARK wrote what’s bothering him the most in Tarkov right now:

‘Cheating, scuffed hitboxes, biceps blocking bullets, audio and pitch black shadows probably.’

There’s a huge and intense cheating issue in Tarkov that impacts thousands of users every day. It’s a monumental problem that Battlestate Games tries to combat – but to little avail. In the space of a few months, BSG has banned tens of thousands of accounts tied to cheating or malicious activity, but it never seems to be enough. That’s the number one concern for most players – and not just the super-sized streamers.

Many of these issues are not new to veteran Tarkov players. There have been audio issues in Escape from Tarkov for the longest time, and despite constant tweaks being made, it never seems to be perfect. Recently, some changes have led to certain players ‘cheesing’ mechanics and leaning on exploits. Presently, ‘canted sights’ cause player models to contort, forcing their arms to block more ‘valuable’ parts of their body, such as their head – and this is being exploited by too many players to win fights more easily.

Admittedly, LVNDMARK said that the ‘start of the wipe’ was enjoyable, but that’s the typical cycle for a core Tarkov player. The wipe (game reset) hits, and all the new features introduce a honeymoon period, but the quests quickly get swallowed up. Within a month or so, many of the game’s players have stepped back as the issues start creeping out of the woodwork. Then, around six months later, everyone is excited about the wipe again.

LVNDMARK makes some solid points, but other users were quick to remind him that this is ‘just the way things are’ in Escape from Tarkov.
