COD’s Season 3 Update is Impossibly Huge

Call of Duty’s Season 3 update is almost here – it’s set to drop on April 3. Today, Activision released the usual flash card showcasing everything that’s coming in the update, and it’s a huge amount. More things are coming to this update than ever before in the history of ‘live service Call of Duty’. From six new maps to four new weapons, and from scores of Operators to changes to Ranked Play, there is so much to think about with this update.

In terms of overall magnitude, it’s a contender for the biggest Call of Duty update ever. It’ll impact Modern Warfare 3, Warzone, COD Mobile, COD Zombies, and Warzone Mobile. The entire ecosystem will get an upgrade with this update. In a blog post published on the Call of Duty website, thousands upon thousands of words were needed to highlight everything that’s coming in Season 3.

Now watch me try to sum it up in just a few hundred.

Call of Duty Season 3 is Massive

Firstly, Modern Warfare 3 fans will be pleased to see the arrival of six new core multiplayer maps with this update. There’s Emergency, 6 Star, Grime, Tanked, Growhouse, and Checkpoint. It’s a brilliant set of maps that’ll redefine the multiplayer offering. These maps will go hand-in-hand with the four new game modes, which includes the long-awaited return of Capture the Flag. We’ll also see One in the Chamber, Minefield, and Escort arrive in Season 3.

Players will be invited to explore these new maps and modes while wielding one of the four new weapons:

  • FJX Horus (SMG)
  • MORS (Sniper Rifle)
  • Gladiator (Melee)
  • BAL-27 (Assault Rifle)

And alongside new weapons, why not take control of a brand-new Operator? Plenty are bursting into the ecosystem after April 3, including Cheech and Chong, Snoop Dogg, Godzilla, King Kong, and many, many more. If that wasn’t enough, there are new Aftermarket Parts to chase down, a new storyline for COD Zombies, and one heck of an overhaul coming to Warzone. That includes the reappearance of Rebirth Island, which now features a day/night cycle and stacks of new features and elements.

It Gets Better

There’s plenty of new equipment coming to Call of Duty in Season 3. Players will be able to equip the Gunslinger Vest, Modular Assault Rig, Compression Carrier, Reinforced Boots, and High-Gain Antenna, among other things. This means that loadouts are set to change monumentally as the meta shifts with the arrival of this new content. With mid-season events stacked up to keep players busy, a huge array of challenges waiting to be completed, and new environments ripe for exploration, this will be a season to be remembered.

It all kicks off on April 3 – are you ready for the biggest update in Call of Duty history?
